Championship Hopes Dashed
Team PSP, headed by two Plymouth fire fighters Scott Wilson and Kev Elford were racing in the Thundercat National Championships in Stokes Bay, Gosport, for the penultimate event of the season. Thundercats are 4m rigid inflatable boats that race in the surf at speeds of up 50mph.
During the first heat on Saturday, after a very promising start, Team PSP were involved in a racing incident which led to the co-pilot, Kev Elford, being taken to hospital for an operation on his hand and arm. He will remain in hospital for a few days to recover and unfortunately this does mean he will be out of action for the last race in Weymouth on 2nd November. Team PSP had been in a comfortable third place in the championship with a twenty point advantage over their competitors.
This means that after a season of sheer hard work and determination they will probably be out of running for the National Championship which is bitterly disappointing for Team PSP.
